Crazy Shoppers!

We received a Big W Toy Sale Catalouge in the mail the other week that had 130 pages of toys in it! We have a friend who works there and we'd planned to go in to the store this morning to layby some things right up until December for Ezekiel's birthday and Christmas. Our friend told us that the store actually opened at 12:01am and suggested that we get in there at that time to make sure we got what we wanted. She did mention that a couple of years ago the store was open for 24 hours and it didnt really work all that well because there wasnt many people around.

Jeremy ventured out last night with a small list of things to put on layby. I just realised that you dont have layby in Canada. It's where you just put things on hold for a few months and pay them off.

Anyways, Jeremy pulled up to a FULL car park and was met with a big crowd out the front of the store at midnight. When the store opened everyone run for the toy section and Jeremy got what he wanted and realised the layby line was becoming long in a very short amount of time. He ended up getting in line about 20 metres from the layby counter and it took him an hour to get to the counter!!

He got home at 1:30am this morning and as he was walking out he saw the layby line which had almost made a whole loop of the store it was that long, and the store is quiet big! So many people waiting to place things on layby.

Our friend sent me a text message with a 4am update saying that the store was still full of hundreds of shoppers and that the layby line was still as long as it was when Jeremy was there and that the store had taken over $80,000 worth of sales within 4 hours!

Isn't that just crazy!

We're all set now & dont have to think about birthday or Christmas presents!

Wow! Love these pics of Zeke - feels like I could just reach out and tousle that cute little head of hair.
Hard to think about Christmas shopping right now - we're just about to start Stampeding :) I really want to go to the parade tomorrow, but alas - there are no kids home to accompany me. Bizz is working at the grounds for Lammle's (western wear) so she'll be working all Stampede ringing in sales in the big tent across from Nashville North. She might go deaf! I'm happy she's working with a friend from school - they start at 4 and work til midnight, so they'll hop on the train to wherever Jocelyn parks her car. They plan to alternate sleeping over at each other's houses, that'll be good. I'll just pray all 10 days!!! Love you all, happy about your NEWS!! GA Heather

That's just crazy! I can't stand shopping at the best of times let alone throw in a bunch of people and looong line-ups. In the States we had the same system but it was called lay-away (almost the same). I didn't know that Canada didn't have it. Good for you to have your shopping all done ahead of time. Sure helps with the stress level ;)
